Welcome to the St. Petersburg Christian School Media Center and the information portal for SPCS students, parents, and visitors. The St. Petersburg Christian School Media Center serves students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in finding great books and key resources for all their information needs.
St. Petersburg Christian School is a private Christian school on the Central West coast of Florida. The school's current membership is 430 students. The SPCS Media Center serves each student in their reading interest and provides the necessary materials to assist each teacher in their students learning experience. By working collaboratively with the students and teachers, each is given the appropriate tools to create a solid foundation in the learning process.
The Media Center is open each school day from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Students are encouraged to visit the library daily to return books and look for new books to read for their enjoyment. Students in Kindergarten are able to check out one book at a time. First Grade through Third Grade students are able to check out 3 books at a time. Students in fourth Grade can check out 4 books and students in Fifth Grade and Middle School can check out 5 books at a time.
In Middle School, students have the opportunity to join our WSPC TV production team. The middle school students work together to create the WSPC TV morning show. The students meet each morning to televise the daily show and in the afternoon elective period prepare the set and script for the next day’s show. The morning show airs daily throughout the school to all the classrooms. Students that are a part of the WSPC team work together to create informational pieces to assist in the day to day learning as well as informing our school community of current events and school news updates.
Britannica Online, BrainPOP, BrainPOP Jr., and Quizlist Interactive are the current subscriptions available to the students in the Media Center and in their classroom. Britannica Online Encyclopedia is available for use at school and home and has age appropriate encyclopedia websites to assist students in their information searches. BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. are creative animated curriculum resources that engage the students and improves higher order thinking skills. Finally, Quizlist is a database website for parents and students to locate books in the Media Center with an Accelerated Reader comprehension test. Users can create booklists and review national and state rearoyalty-free music from ding lists.
