St. Petersburg Christian School’s team of four specialists and a full-time assistant serve children referred to the Learning Resource Center. Needs range from simply "catching up" (remedial needs) to working with children who are experiencing a learning disability (LD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Instruction is offered on a part-time or full-time basis, determined by the child's needs and in consultation with parents. A diagnosis of academic skills helps to direct the formulation of an Personal Learning Plan (PLP).The program's goal is to build needed skills as quickly as possible so the child may successfully return to the mainstream.

The Learning Resource Center was commended by the Association of Christian Schools International for having an Exemplary Program worthy of replication. Attending LRC is seen as a privilege and meets with respect from the student body. Significant growth and "Honor Roll" status are the norm for LRC students.

Bonnie Renninger - Elementary

I have been teaching Elementary LRC at SPCS since 2007.  I am currently certified in the areas of Special Education: Learning Disabilities K-12 and Elementary Education.

The mission of our class is to explore new topics, engage in interactive questions, and relate what we have learned to the extraordinary opportunities that exist in our world. My sincere hope is that not only will your child grow in academic knowledge, but they will also grow closer to the Lord. I am always happy to talk to the families of my students. You are the most important people in my students’ lives! Let’s work together to make sure your child gets everything he or she needs to be successful this year!

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Shannon Nash - Middle School

I moved from Michigan nine years ago and just relocated to St. Petersburg where I love to live. Now, St. Petersburg Christian School has become the career that I love.

My teaching experience include elementary through high school ESE for over fifteen years.

I am thrilled to facilitate real world applications of math and science principles. More importantly, I am ecstatic to foster students spiritual growth in knowing God's plan for them and developing a personal relationship with the Lord. As a teacher, I truly feel blessed to witness students live, learn, change, and grow. As a lifelong learner, students, staff, and parents will also see the same for me.

Parent involvement and communication is always appreciated; parent volunteers are always welcome!

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify Your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Becky Kessie - Grades 2-6

I graduated from Evangel University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching certificate in Special Education.  I also hold my Florida teaching certificate in Exceptional Student Education K - 12.

My desire is to positively impact each student academically so that each one reaches his/her full potential. I also pray that each student realizes his/her great worth in God's eyes and comes to trust Him in every area of life.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
